JOSH,RESURRECTED DANCE CREW LEARDER AND CHOREOGRAPHER
1. Who are you?
-I'm Josh, a leader and choreographer of Resurrected Dance Crew and Resurrected Dance Academy
2. When did your journey begin? -My journey began in 2010 when a few friends of mine at church wanted to start a dance crew, i always wanted to learn how to dance then I joined.
3. What motivates you daily?
-Knowing that God has a great plan for me.
4. Who is your inspiration?
-Firstly Jesus, He tells us all the things that are possible through Him....and by His words and the strength He gives me I can face anything everyday.
5. When and where is your next performance?
-Our next performance is on Saturday (24/10/2015) at the Cansa Relay in Reservoir Hills.
6. Do you see a future in Durban Dance Industry?
-Yes I do see a future, in fact I see a new revolution that we have started. Dancing to empower the youth and to lift up our Creator through it, because Dance was first Created to praise God, but then the world moved its focus. We want to bring that back, that we should be using our talent to serve the one that gave it to us in the first place.
7. What are challenges or obstacles do you come across as a crew/performer(s),especially when performing around Durban?
-People not taking what we do seriously and thinking of it as something that's just for fun (hobbie) with no real purpose.
8. Why does it seems like we have less number of dancers then before in Durban?
-Well I actually see it as if there's an increase in dancers. But that could be due to the fact that I wasn't exposed to other dancers in the city much before. But now I'm beginning to see them and how many there are. And I'm like where did they all come from??
9. What makes Durban Dance Industry Good/Bad from other cities in SA?
-I Think its good because of the unity every1 has with one another. All dancers know each other here, however I do believe we need to start working a little more together.
10. How can we make sure that Dance/performing Art still exist and well presentable in the city of Durban?
-By doing more workshops and flash-mobs!
11. Is there anything you would like to share with us or with your supporters
-To my fellow dancers :Never forget who gave you your talent as a Dancer, Yes we have worked hard to get where we are but it is God who ultimately planted that gift in you, So thank Him for it and inspire someone else to find it too, And to those that don't Dance....Start soon! You are missing out!
